Hillary and her team were amazing lenders to work with, and I would recommend them to anyone looking to purchase, sell, or refinance a home based on our experience. Over the four months that it took us to go from pre-approval to closing, Direct Mortgage exceeded our expectations. We vetted a number of lenders, and what set Hillary and Direct Mortgage apart were the following:

1. Advocating for us - When working with would-be sellers, Direct Mortgage was proactive in supporting us with pre-approval letters, turning these around quickly. They would answer any questions from the sellers; I never worried about Direct Mortgage being slow to respond. Their team vouched for us as buyers, which gave us strong offer packages, and contributed to our success.

2. Sophisticated use of data and technology - The emails we received from Direct Mortgage were helpful without being overbearing; their online portal was easy to navigate. When doing an initial consultation and in later calls, Hillary showed us how our different numbers (loan interest rate, down payment, number of points, etc.) would result in our different final package, timeline for breaking even, etc; this was very different than the approach other lenders took. As first time home buyers, it helped educate us and inform us about our options, so we could make the right decisions for us.

3. Hillary was responsive the whole time. We had tons of questions and what-if scenarios we wanted to understand, and Hillary answered all of these, showing her expertise and excellent communication. Whether on the phone, email, or a quick text, Hillary provided us the information needed in a friendly and professional manner.

Our initial contact was with Tom Ford, and then Kristen Hall. Tom walked us through the preliminary stuff, told us what to expect, and answered all of our questions (which we had quite a few since we have not purchased a new home for 30 years). If you're feeling lost in the process of choosing a lender, just stop, and read my story of how I went from crying outside of a rental to owning a home in one month. I had been told my credit was less than stellar by 4 other lenders and that getting approval was risky. Daryl of Direct Mortgage Loans never made me feel that way. I called while I was sitting in front of a house I thought I could never afford and told him my situation. He was understanding (and a military family himself) and said let me take your information and find you what fits best. I am now a first-time homeowner and still in disbelief. I was walked through the whole process by Daryl and never left on "read" so to speak. He has vast knowledge of the MMP program (which is what I used) and they assisted us with a down payment I wasn't sure I could come up with on my own with the minimal time I had. I found out I had 6 months to move from my long-term rental into something else and I was on month 4 of 6 months with less than two months left to find a home and move out. The rentals were scarce and nothing fit my family and I had zero time left. Thank you, Daryl and your team for getting us the ONE YES we needed to stay in this area!
