Underwriter, Karen Reed has been in the mortgage industry since the 1980s and joined Direct Mortgage Loans a little over six years ago. Karen chose to join DML because of our family-friendly focus. Six years ago, her son was deployed overseas. “DML allowed me to flex my work hours so I could watch my youngest grandson. This allowed my daughter-in-law to move close to me while still being able to work at her current job.” We are forever grateful that Karen chose to join the #DMLfamily!
When asked what she loves most about the industry, she states, “It is everchanging. I have been in several roles in the mortgage industry but have found a passion for underwriting. It’s like reading a book with pictures (the appraisal). Each loan is different, and all borrowers have different wants, needs, and challenges.”
Outside of work, Karen supports the York Food Bank. Additionally, she is a donor to Habitat for Humanity, and has participated in several of their home builds!
