Michelle Coleman came into the mortgage industry in 1990. Over the last 25 years, she has overseen various departments including post-closing, final docs, and some accounting. This has helped her learn from her peers and mentors to further her career. Michelle states, “closing is where my heart is and will always be, it’s the last line of defense and I enjoy the result, whether it’s helping the borrower, LO, or the entire team. When we get the loan to closing and everyone is happy, it’s just an overall nice feeling when I can help make the mortgage process smooth for all involved.” Additionally, Michelle continues to keep up her education and professional development. She has her Settlement License and can handle closings for our partners, borrowers, etc. if needed. She is a Mortgage Nerd and loves to research and study guidelines and share her knowledge.

Outside of work, Michelle helps volunteer whenever she can at the charity Manna House which is a homeless shelter in Baltimore City. Additionally, she proudly supports the Salvation Army and Veterans Affairs.

When Michelle applied for a job after only a year in the mortgage industry as an assistant, her boss told her she would be put into closing. Initially, she said to herself “no way” because saw the long, late hours that most closers worked.” Despite this, she figured she would give it a try since she likes to learn new things. And for those who do not know Michelle, when she makes a commitment, she follows through. Whether it’s for work, friends, or family, she does not like to let others down. Closing grew on Michelle, and she knew she had a knack for it and knew she wanted to be THE BEST. She decided to not only help the borrower, but help the LO or the processor, by learning everything she could to understand other departments.
