Summer Home Maintenance Guide

Summer has come, good weather is among us, and so is a lot of standard home maintenance. Make sure you are checking off all the MUST-DOS on your home this summer. Here are the main items to complete!

  1. Inspect the exterior of your home.

Take the time to inspect the exterior of your home, and power wash the outside of your home to eliminate any dust, dirt, or mold. If you do not own a power washer, consider renting one at your local hardware store, or contracting someone to complete this for you.

  1. Mulch your garden beds.

During the scorching summer months, weeds begin to grow, and your soil may struggle to retain moisture. By simply adding more mulch around your plants, you can combat these issues.

  1. Have your roof checked.

The roof of your house is very important. Have your roof inspected to assure no shingles are missing. If any problems are reported, prioritize repair to keep weather outside out of your home!

  1. Inspect your fence.

If you have a fence, take the time to ensure everything is in order. Consider repainting, resealing, and taking any additional measures to maintain the integrity of your fence.

  1. Clean your dryer vent and exhaust duct.

Lint and dust can easily build up and clog your dryer vents. This is no minor issue as buildup over time can cause a house fire.

  1. Clean your windows.

Along with the outside of your house, make sure to clean your windows inside and out. Clean windows will exaggerate the natural light in your house.

If you are a new homeowner, or have an existing home, make sure to complete these must do summer maintenance checks. Check out our graphic below with a few more summer maintenance tips you may want to add to your summer checklist.
